Our owner, Corey, had the opportunity to travel to Haiti in February 2020 to visit IDADEE and see all the amazing work being done by Brace for Impact 46. From the moment he stepped off the plane at the Haiti airport he was overtaken with the feeling of helplessness. As they drove through town, the smell, the mounds of trash, and the extreme poverty around every corner was overwhelming. 

 

That feeling was lessened, and eventually went away, after Corey spent a few days with the amazing children at IDADEE. Seeing their energy, their extreme optimism, and their genuine love for life will make anyone feel inspired. Along with the orphanage and school, Corey got the opportunity to see the other contributions that have come out of the work done by Brace for Impact. They have built a hospital that serves the town and provided toilets, along with clean water to thousands.

 

Corey made the decision on that trip that he had to do more, and he knew this was a cause that everyone in the Xtra Mile community could support.

 

From there Corey and fellow coach, Christa, became Ambassadors for Brace for Impact, and the entire Xtra Mile community has gotten behind the organization. As a gym we have sold coffee, sponsored children, and donated money to help provide the children of IDADEE a better life. Through this love for Brace for Impact by our community, Sweat for Impact was born.

 

We know that our efforts are a small part in the bigger plan by Brace for Impact, but we are excited to help impact the lives of so many in Haiti, and provide them a better life!
